important: by downloading, installing, or using the Aurly mobile application, you agree to be bound by these terms of use. please read them carefully.
1. app overview
Aurly is a mobile application designed to provide real-time and long-term forecasts for the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and Aurora Australis (Southern Lights), including geomagnetic activity (Kp index), best viewing locations, and instant alerts. Aurly offers both free and premium subscription tiers.
2. subscription services
2.1 available subscriptions
Aurly Pro offers the following auto-renewable subscription options:
- weekly subscription: $1.99 per week
- yearly subscription: $19.99 per year (best value - save over 80%!)
note: prices may vary by location and are subject to change. current pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase.
2.2 subscription features
Aurly Pro includes:
- unlimited priority alerts for high aurora activity
- 27-day long-range space weather forecast
- multiple saved locations for alerts and forecasts
- ad-free experience
- detailed cloud cover and weather conditions for viewing
- personalized alert sensitivity settings
- historical aurora data access
- priority customer support
2.3 auto-renewal terms
important subscription information:
- subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
- weekly subscriptions renew every 7 days
- yearly subscriptions renew every 365 days
- you can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your device's account settings after purchase
3. payment and billing
3.1 payment processing
all subscription payments are processed through your device's app store (apple app store or google play store). payment will be charged to your app store account upon confirmation of purchase.
3.2 price changes
we reserve the right to modify subscription prices at any time. price changes will not affect existing subscriptions until renewal, and you will be notified of any price changes in advance.
4. cancellation policy
4.1 how to cancel
for iOS users:
- open the settings app on your iphone or ipad
- tap your name at the top
- tap "subscriptions"
- find Aurly and tap it
- tap "cancel subscription"
for android users:
- open the google play store app
- tap menu → subscriptions
- find Aurly and tap it
- tap "cancel subscription"
4.2 cancellation terms
- you can cancel your subscription at any time
- cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- you will continue to have access to pro features until the end of the paid period
- no refunds are provided for partial subscription periods
- you must cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period
5. refund policy
all sales are final. refund requests must be made directly through your device's app store:
- iOS: submit refund requests through apple's report a problem website
- android: request refunds through google play store customer service
Aurly does not control app store refund policies and cannot guarantee refund approval.
6. free trial (if applicable)
if a free trial is offered, you will be charged the full subscription price when the trial period ends unless you cancel before the trial expires. free trials are limited to one per user.
7. user responsibilities
- use the app responsibly and as intended
- maintain the security of your account credentials
- use the app in accordance with these terms
- not share your pro account access with others
- not attempt to reverse engineer or modify the app
- use caution when travelling to remote locations suggested by the app
- not rely on the app for navigation or emergency services
- respect intellectual property rights of all content and data
8. content usage and restrictions
important notice:
- all forecast data, maps, and content in Aurly are protected by copyright
- content is licensed for personal, non-commercial use only
- you may not redistribute, copy, or reuse data for commercial purposes without explicit permission
- maps and forecasts may not be used in other applications or commercial works
9. forecast accuracy and disclaimer
9.1 inherent limitations
forecast disclaimer:
- Aurora forecasts are based on complex and unpredictable space weather models and data from various sources (e.g., NOAA, SWPC, satellites)
- Accuracy can be affected by unexpected solar activity, atmospheric conditions, and data latency
- Aurly provides the best available data, but **does not guarantee** the visibility, intensity, or location of the aurora at any given time
- Always check local cloud cover, moonlight, and personal safety conditions when chasing the aurora
9.2 location and safety
- Aurly's recommended viewing locations are based on light pollution and predicted visibility—they do not account for physical safety, accessibility, or local travel conditions
- **You are solely responsible** for your safety and adherence to local laws and conditions when traveling to a viewing location
- Aurly should not be used as a primary navigation tool
10. data and privacy
your privacy is important to us. please review our privacy policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information, including location data, alert preferences, and usage patterns.
11. offline functionality
Aurly requires an internet connection for real-time forecasts, alerts, and map updates. Certain features may be limited in offline mode:
- Real-time Kp index and solar wind data will be unavailable
- Alerts cannot be received
- Map data may be stale or unavailable
12. age requirements
Aurly is intended for users of all ages interested in astronomy and space weather. Users under 18 should obtain parental consent before subscribing to Aurly Pro.
13. location data and alerts
- Alert functionality requires access to your precise location or saved locations
- You control which locations are active for alerts
- Alert delivery depends on your device notification settings and network connectivity
14. termination
we reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to Aurly at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these terms or any other reason.
15. updates to terms
we may update these terms of use from time to time. changes will be effective when posted in the app or on this page. continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
16. limitation of liability
Aurly and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the app, including but not limited to:
- missed aurora sightings due to forecast inaccuracies or technical errors
- physical injury or property damage incurred while traveling to viewing locations
- data loss or technical issues
- device battery drain from constant tracking
17. disclaimer of warranties
Aurly is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. we do not guarantee:
- uninterrupted or error-free operation
- specific results from using the app (i.e., successfully seeing the aurora)
- 100% accuracy of space weather forecasts
- compatibility with all devices or operating systems
18. data sources and licensing
18.1 data acknowledgement
Aurly sources data from publicly available scientific, governmental, and commercial space weather agencies (e.g., NOAA, NASA, Met Agencies). We acknowledge and respect the efforts of these agencies in providing critical data.
18.2 intellectual property
All software, design elements, and original instructional content in Aurly are owned by the service provider or its licensors and protected by copyright.
19. technical support
we provide technical support for app functionality and subscription management. support does not include general astronomy education, space weather tutoring, or guidance on photography techniques.
20. governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of the united states. any disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts.
21. entire agreement
these terms of use, together with our privacy policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Aurly regarding use of the app.
